Throughout 2007 and 2008, we worked with Folly to deliver a series of innovative pocket movie-making workshops at Carnforth station.
Carnforth Station would be the setting for a series of pocket-movie-making workshops, aimed at teaching people how to get to grips with mobile phone cameras, and producing mini-masterpieces with just a phone and a laptop.
We developed a series of one-day workshops which taught people how to shoot a film using only the video camera on a mobile phone. Participants learned how to get to grips with the technicalities of filming on the small screen, and how to edit their footage to create a finished film.
There were no age restrictions, and no need for prior experience – the emphasis was on getting people to be creative with a tool which almost all of us carry around with us every day.
Then we flipped the idea on it’s head, and instead of filming with mobile phones, we set about creating some films which could be watched on a mobile screen. Our Halloween and Valentine “specials” allowed groups of aspiring filmmakers to get to grips with shooting a short film with a script.
