We love it when we see our clients win awards, particularly when it’s a worthy organisation like the Shannon Trust.
The Trust were recently announced as one of the winners of the Guardian Charity Awards 2009. It’s fantastic news for them, and will have a real impact by raising awareness of the invaluable work they do. We’d like to wholeheartedly congratulate everyone at the Trust, who work tirelessly on what is a life-changing programme of activities.
We’ve been working with the Shannon Trust to promote their programme of literacy learning in the UK prison system. Our short documentary films, which featured prisoners speaking about their experiences of the Trust’s Toe By Toe scheme, have been successful in reaching a wide audience and have played a part in lobbying for wider adoption.
Some of our footage was screened at the Awards ceremony, and can be watched online at the Guardian website.
We’re working with the Trust again in 2010, to create a new film aimed at promoting their work in Young Offenders Institutions. We’ll be working with some of the youngest and most vulnerable members of the UK prison population, along with prison officers and prison governors, to help gain an understanding of how the teaching of literacy skills really can change lives.
