The new Lanternhouse website

We’ve just put the finishes touches to a brand new website for Lanternhouse, which has been completely overhauled as part of a re-branding project.

Lanternhouse is a place where artists, curators and creative thinkers come to work on new ideas or produce new work. It’s a catalyst for people to debate, experience and participate in contemporary art and culture – a place where ideas, art forms and people collide to create a special energy and atmosphere.

The project was commissioned as part of a wider re-branding of the organisation, which was undertaken by the very talented guys at Uniform. Not only were we introducing a whole new visual style though: the entire form and function of the website needed a fresh approach. Our two main objectives were:

1. To make it easier for visitors to find information on what Lanternhouse were about, and what was happening there.

2. To make it easy for the team at Lanternhouse to update the site’s contents with news and event information.

And since they are a very social bunch at Lanternhouse, the whole team were also keen to incorporate social media technology into the site. The first phase of the site includes a comment system allowing visitors to the site to have their say; and more integration with Twitter, Facebook and YouTube are in the works.

With a rock-solid content management system powering the new website, and a simple, but striking visual style, we’ve created the perfect foundation for the site to develop over time as a growing archive of the exciting and innovative things which go on inside (and outside!) this unique arts space.
